Wedding cakes are one of my favorite things about a wedding. They are beautifully designed, thoughtfully chosen, and reflect the couple’s style. It’s more than just dessert. It’s a statement piece that everyone can enjoy. From classic white tiers to intricate details, wedding cakes are a piece of art. Here are some of my favorite looks.

Clean and simple. Easy to decorate. Taste is your main focus.
These pieces are proof you don’t need a cake that’s over the top. In fact, some of the most stunning cakes are those with smooth finishes, soft neutral tones and delicate textures. While subtle, it creates a modern effortless look.
Additionally, a minimalist cake allows the rest of your wedding design to shine. If you have bold florals, dramatic lighting, and a detailed reception, a simple cake will bring balance to the space. No need for competition.
Last but not least, you can focus on the flavor. When the design is clean, guests really focus on the taste. Be intentional with the flavor.

If you love your flowers, add some as cake decor! It’s elegant and effortlessly ties your cake into the overall wedding design. A current trend, but a timeless piece whether you feature garden roses, bold marigolds, or cascading orchids. Best part, you can customize your cake and florals completely to your vision.

Another trendy cake idea that has truly earned its place in the wedding world. Naked cakes (or lightly frosted or barely iced) allows layers of cake and filling to peek through. The result is a soft, organic look.
Also, because there’s less frosting, the cake is not overly sweet and the flavors really shine through. Top it off with fruit, berries, figs or even powdered sugar. Perfect for a rustic or boho wedding.

Not every couple dreams of a multi tiered wedding cake. There’s no need to fuss, especially if the cake isn’t a highlight or of high importance at your reception. Instead, consider a mini cake for just the two of you to cut and enjoy. You can have that classic cake-cutting moment without the pressure (or cost) or serving a large crowd.
Small cakes can still reflect your wedding aesthetic. As we talked about, there are tons of ways to decorate your cake to make it uniquely yours. Sometimes, less is truly more.

If cake isn’t your thing, you don’t have to force it. You don’t need it just to complete a tradition. Instead, try a dessert table with alternatives. Dessert displays have become increasingly popular. They are fun, interactive, and you customize each item. Popular options include donuts, macaroons, cheesecake shooters, mini tarts, brownies and cookies.
Ask your baker what they’re able to whip up! Mix flavors, textures, and even cultural favorites to make it more personalized. You might be surprised with the endless creative options. Sweets come in many forms.
