After months of careful planning, your wedding day is finally here! You should only focus on getting married and having fun now. As a wedding planner, I’ve seen it all, and I’m sharing my best tips to help your day go smoothly from start to finish.
Remember to nourish yourself before the big moment. Wedding days are long, and keeping your energy up is crucial! Aim for three proper meals, just like any other day. Pack snacks that are easy to grab between events if a full meal feels overwhelming. You don’t want hunger to spoil your excitement.

Keep sipping water (not just champagne!) to stay hydrated and glowing. Yes, peeing in a big dress is tricky, but dehydration is far worse. You don’t want to feel faint or light-headed while exchanging vows or dancing the night away.
Build in extra time for a stress-free day. Adding buffer time to your schedule prevents chaos if things run behind. It’s always better to be ahead of schedule than rushing. A flexible timeline helps you and your vendors transition seamlessly and keeps the mood calm and relaxed.
A private moment together is the perfect way to soak it all in. Whether it’s five minutes or twenty, sneaking away with your new spouse allows you to savor the moment. Many couples enjoy this time during cocktail hour where they share a bite and reflect before rejoining the celebration.

Your special details should be organized in one place. A dedicated detail box saves time and stress for your photographer, especially if you’re still getting ready. Include jewelry, vow books, rings, shoes, hair accessories, florals, shoes, invitations, or any unique items. A ready-to-go box ensures your photographer can jump right into capturing those special shots.

Share your timeline with key people. Your planner will distribute a detailed schedule with your vendors, but your wedding party should also know the major moments. A simplified timeline helps everyone stay on the same page and makes for smoother transitions throughout the day.
Trust your team to handle key tasks. Your planner will manage logistics and vendor coordination, while your wedding party can help keep the vibe light and fun. Delegate simple duties, like creating a getting-ready playlist or holding your dress when you need a bathroom break.
Let the day unfold without distractions. Hand your phone to a trusted friend or planner and immerse yourself in the moment Your vendors will handle any emergencies, and most messages can wait. If allowed, I love to use the couple’s phone to capture candid photos of the couple throughout the day to enjoy right after the wedding, without pulling them away from the celebration.

Remember to breathe. Trust the professionals you hire, lean on your loved ones, and focus on what truly matters. Take a deep breath, smile, and soak up every precious second of your wedding day.
