On the last day of May 2025, one of my couples tied the knot at the stunning Metropolitan Club. The ceremony was held in a charming, courtyard-like space, and the reception followed in an elegant, luxurious ballroom. After a week of heavy rain, the skies cleared and the summer sun shone brightly. Just in time for their big day!
The morning began calmly as everyone got ready on their own in the comfort of their own space. One by one, the wedding party made their way in. As the groom and groomsmen arrived, I began pinning crisp white rose boutonnieres on each of them. The groom was one of the last to have his boutonniere pinned before having his first look with the bride.
After the first look, the couple took portraits with the talented Reyk Photo team. Family and wedding party photos followed shortly after. While everyone was still gathered in the ceremony space, I ran a quick walkthrough to show each person where to walk and sit. Only the couple and officiant would be standing at the altar.
The wedding party was quickly tucked away as guests began to arrive. Refreshments were served in champagne flutes while guests found their seats. The piano played in the background as the ceremony began.
The ceremony lasted about 30 minutes and was followed up by cocktail hour. Meanwhile, the amazing team from La Fleur Events began flipping the ceremony florals for reuse during the reception. The ceremony arch was repurposed as a fun photo booth backdrop for guests.
Cocktail hour featured delicious drinks and bites. There were two signature cocktails: a margarita and a peach mojito. The peach mojito was a huge hit. It was light, refreshing, and perfect for a warm May day.
Next came the reception in the grand ballroom. Tables were adorned with white rose centerpieces in vases of varying heights, creating a clean and elegant look. Once guests found their seats, we kicked off the grand entrances. Both sets of parents, the groomsmen, and the bridesmaids wthey stood around the dance floor, surrounding the couple during their first dance.
Once the couple sat down, the toasts began. The best man, gave a heartfelt yet humorous toast. Then the maid of honor followed with a sweet toast. As the speeches wrapped up, my assistant and I began plating the couple’s meals.
Dinner was a delicious buffet featuring a variety of different entrees and sides. After a blessing was said, we served the couple their plates and began dismissing vendors for dinner. Stephen Lee, the band’s lead singer, took care of dismissing guest tables.
As dinner wrapped up, the wedding cake was moved to a more central spot. The couple cut the cake, and with that, the dance floor officially opened! While the cake was wheeled to the kitchen for slicing and serving, my assistant and I passed out glow sticks and colorful sunglasses. These were fun favors for their guests to enjoy on the dance floor. The band absolutely crushed their set and kept the energy high all night.
After hours of dancing, it was time for the grand exit. The couple had chosen fairy light wands with ribbons and bells for the send-off. We passed them out to guests, instructing them to form two lines and wave the wands high as the couple made their way to the car. The couple ran through the glowing tunnel of lights and cheers and climbed into the car, waving goodbye as they drove off into the night.
After the wedding, the bride’s daughter left the kindest Google review for Love and Light Wedding Planning. She wrote:
“Diya is an absolute superstar and the secret ingredient to the most flawless wedding ever. From the moment we started working with her, she made sure every detail was perfectly in place and kept us on schedule like a wedding wizard. Diya was always there with a smile, ready to handle anything we needed, whether it was coordinating vendors, fixing last-minute surprises, or just hyping us up when emotions were running high.
On the big day, Diya worked her magic to make everything feel effortless. I swear she had a sixth sense for knowing exactly what we needed before we even said it. This was hands down the most seamless, fun, and beautifully executed wedding I have ever attended, and that is all thanks to Diya’s expertise, kindness, and pure dedication. If you’re looking for a planner who is efficient, thoughtful, and genuinely fun to work with, Diya is your person. Highly recommend her for anyone who wants their wedding to be stress-free and absolutely perfect!!!”
I’m so grateful to have been part of this wedding. Hearing how much the couple and their guests loved every moment means the world. Wishing them endless love, joy, and adventure in this new chapter together!
